MC75 Counterflow Tower Film Fills made from 0.015-inch thick, UV-inhibited, and chemically resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It boasts a flame spread rating of less than 25 as per ASTM E-84 standards, classifying it as self-extinguishing. The material is meticulously extruded and manufactured to strict specifications before forming.


Replacing existing splash-type fill in counterflow towers with PVC Marley MC75 film fill often results in a reduced fill height, which lowers the pumping head requirement. Additionally, the MC75 fill enhances cooling tower capacity, meaning that maintaining current performance levels will require less fan energy.


The fill pack depth, or air travel, can be adjusted to provide the necessary heat transfer area within a single fill layer. If additional air travel is needed, a second fill layer may be added, but only one additional layer to minimize the interfaces that could cause clogging. The MC75 counterflow fill can be either suspended from structural members or bottom-supported in nearly any counterflow cooling tower, regardless of age or manufacturer.


Construction and Materials

The fill is of the film type, constructed from multiple sheets of thermoformed PVC. Each sheet features angular corrugations designed to optimize heat transfer. The alternating angularity of the corrugations in adjacent sheets ensures consistent fill sheet spacing.

The fill can be bottom-supported or suspended from structural elements. Bottom-supported fill is assembled into packs by bonding adjacent sheets. Suspended fill packs are supported by 2-inch diameter stainless steel tubes, which pass through reinforced holes in the upper part of the fill sheets. These tubes are hung from the structure using stainless steel rod loops. The vendor will determine the appropriate support method.
